Do you practice in Federal Court?

Yes, Mr. Collins is licensed to practice in the Federal District Court of South Carolina and the Federal Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

What do you charge someone accused of a crime?

Mr. Collins charges a flat fee to represent clients who are accused of a committing a crime.  A flat fee means you know what it will cost you for Mr. Collins to represent you before you decide to hire him.  The amount of the fee depends on the number of charges, the facts of the particular case, and the legal issues involved.  Other costs such as private investigator fees and expert witness fees are not included in Mr. Collins’ fee and will have to be paid separately if their services are used in your case.

What do you charge someone involved in a divorce or custody dispute?

Mr. Collins charges an hour rate to represent someone involved in a divorce or custody dispute.  Mr. Collins requires that each client involved in a divorce or a custody dispute deposit an initial amount of money into his trust account to cover his fees and costs and to keep money in that account throughout the case.  Fees are charged for the things Mr. Collins and his staff do on your case.  The fees are based on the amount of time involved and for some activities there is a minimum fee that will be charged.  Costs include filing fees paid to the court, process server fees for serving papers on the other party, and charges for getting documents such as medical records and bank records.

What do you charge someone who was hurt by another person?

Mr. Collins takes most cases where someone is injured by another person on a contingency fee.  A contingency fee means that the amount of Mr. Collins’ fee is based on the outcome of your case.  If you do not get any money, then you do not owe a fee.  If you do get money for your injuries, Mr. Collins’ fee is deducted from the money you are awarded and before the costs of your case are paid.  While you are ultimately responsible for the costs of your case, Mr. Collins does not usually ask you to pay those costs until the end of the case when they are paid from the money you are awarded.

Who do I call if you do not take my case?
